Jays Witness History in Loss to Yankees

After winning the first two games of their past series to the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays witnessed baseball history on Wednesday night: New York star slugger Alex Rodriguez hit his 600th home run in a 5-1 Yanks victory. The 2-run home run came in the bottom of the 1st inning with Derek Jeter scoring and the Yankees going up 2-0. This makes A-Rod the 7th and youngest member of the "600+ home run club". Then in the bottom of the 3rd, Mark Teixeira doubled and scored Derek Jeter to make it 3-0. Toronto's only run came in the top of the 4th when Lyle Overbay doubled, scoring Jose Bautista and moving Adam Lind to 3rd base. This made it 3-1 in favour of the Yankees. Finally in the bottom of the 5th inning, New York scored two more runs to make it a 5-1 final. Mark Teixeira singled, scoring Brett Gardner and Derek Jeter. On the play Nick Swisher moved to 3rd base. Starting pitcher Phil Hughes took the win for the Yanks while starter Shawn Marcum took the loss for Toronto. Hughes improved to 13-4 while Marcum fell to 10-5. Now, Toronto has to come back home to the Rogers Centre to host the Tampa Bay Rays for a 3-game weekend series. The first game is tonight at 7 PM and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet. Here's the recap for the loss to New York: Game 3 vs Yankees: 5-1

That's all folks! Goodbye now.
