Jays set for Tonight's Action

This is just a post to remind everyone that the Blue Jays are in action tonight in Tampa Bay. The game starts at 7 PM and can be seen on Rogers Sporstnet 1 if you can get it. I'll try to piece the game together for you all later, since I don't get the channel. Have a good night, and God bless!

Raptor Jose Calderon Injured; Will Miss World Basketball Championships

Yes, that's right. The Raptors ALREADY are suffering injuries, and it's only the offseason! Apparently Jose Calderon will sit out the ongoing World Basketball Championships (this tournament decides who will participate in the Olympics in 2012) and will have to wait until the Raptors first preseason game on October 6 to play in game action. Until then, the Raps have a walking wounded amongst them. He suffered the injury early on in the tournament during a Spanish loss to the United States team. Here's the story: From the Raptors Emergency Room: Man injured  The story was posted on August 23.

That's all for now. Have a good one, folks!

Off-Topic Post #1: Hypocrisy & Off-limit Sex

Yeah, it's one of those posts, folks! *sigh* Sometimes you just want to slap yourself. I already have, because I was just caught by my parents for watching sexual material online that's supposed to be off-limits to me because of my Christian beliefs. It was completely wrong for me to be watching the stuff but I allowed my curiosity to get the better of me and I acted rather foolishly and irresponsibly. There is a lesson to be learned here for me: DON'T sin and be a hypocrite! Here I was actively and consciously engaging in watching the stuff and yet I have always voiced my opposition to such behaviour. I feel rather ashamed and foolish for my actions and I vow to take a different course, knowing all the while that I will need God's help in doing so. Repentance (a change of heart and mind) will be required as well as action (such as filtering the content out, etc). *sigh* I wouldn't blame my parents for chewing me up about this either; all of this was rather unnecessary for me to do. Here's hoping and praying things start looking up later on. Goodbye everyone!

P.S.: If you are already filtering out such content, make sure that you DO NOT change the settings. I will have to remember this later on.

Raptors Acquire New Player & Release Another

Yes, there's more on the offseason front for Toronto. They have traded reserve guard Marco Bellinelli to the New Orleans Hornets for forward Julian Wright. According to Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo, the move "should help balance the roster". However, I'm not keen on this move because Wright apparently used Twitter on New Orleans in much the same way that Bosh had on the Raps. As I said before, if a player leaves his or her team unprofessionally he is to be punished and shunned, not praised. If a player comes to Toronto like this (as Julian Wright has), I will still criticize the player for his actions and refuse him respect. Although I will root for him because he is now a Raptor, I will NOT be pleased with him as a person. Maybe he will prove me wrong and repent. As it stands now, I certainly hope so because this is inexcusable. Anyways, here's the story: Another Wright is Gained by Raptors

For evidence of my dissatisfaction with Julian Wright, this was written on the August 11, 2010 edition of the Raptors offseason blog: "It was around this year's trade deadline that the man nicknamed JuJu took to twitter to voice his concerns about his situation with the Hornets.

Off to practice, thinking bout how I'm jealous of all these players that managed to get traded before Thursday... 11:52 AM Feb 16th via Sidekick

Just saying, might need a change of scenery, of course I love New Orleans! Bought a house here. 3:41 PM Feb 16th via Twitterrific

Not bout blaming anyone. Just thinkin bout the C. Fryes, S. Browns, and the G. Wallaces, of the league who just needed a change of scenery. 3:50 PM Feb 16th via Twitterrific.

Ok, I apologize for venting and making anybody uncomfortable. I just worked hard these past two summers so that's what I'll do this summer! 8:15 PM Feb 16th via Twitterrific

Probably not the best use of social media..."

Here's the link for the comments: Julian Wright's Lack of Professionalism Uncovered

Also too, the Raptors released centre Dwayne Jones in order to make room for Wright. Here's the story: Jones is Gone

That's all for now. Goodbye.

Jays Witness History in Loss to Yankees

After winning the first two games of their past series to the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays witnessed baseball history on Wednesday night: New York star slugger Alex Rodriguez hit his 600th home run in a 5-1 Yanks victory. The 2-run home run came in the bottom of the 1st inning with Derek Jeter scoring and the Yankees going up 2-0. This makes A-Rod the 7th and youngest member of the "600+ home run club". Then in the bottom of the 3rd, Mark Teixeira doubled and scored Derek Jeter to make it 3-0. Toronto's only run came in the top of the 4th when Lyle Overbay doubled, scoring Jose Bautista and moving Adam Lind to 3rd base. This made it 3-1 in favour of the Yankees. Finally in the bottom of the 5th inning, New York scored two more runs to make it a 5-1 final. Mark Teixeira singled, scoring Brett Gardner and Derek Jeter. On the play Nick Swisher moved to 3rd base. Starting pitcher Phil Hughes took the win for the Yanks while starter Shawn Marcum took the loss for Toronto. Hughes improved to 13-4 while Marcum fell to 10-5. Now, Toronto has to come back home to the Rogers Centre to host the Tampa Bay Rays for a 3-game weekend series. The first game is tonight at 7 PM and can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet. Here's the recap for the loss to New York: Game 3 vs Yankees: 5-1

That's all folks! Goodbye now.

Getting Back to the Jays

All right. It's time to blog about the Jays again. I'm just simply going to give the links for the most recent games since I'm just starting to get back into the swing of it. They are currently enjoying a decent record of 56-51; last time we looked at them, they were below .500 and it was zooming towards the All-Star Break. That is all past and now the Jays are playing much better. So, enjoy!

Game 1 vs Yankees: 8-6
Game 2 vs Yankees: 8-2

I'll blog later on with actual recaps. That's all for now.
