Lightning Earn Big Blowout Win vs Mill Rats
Yesterday afternoon, the London Lightning basketball club hosted the Saint John Mill Rats in a 2 PM matinee at the John Labatt Centre. Needless to say, it was a fairly easy win for the team, with the club getting the lead up to 27 points in the 3rd quarter. Shawn Daniels, Gabe Freeman, DeAnthony Bowden, and reserve Patrick Sewell all had big nights as they rolled to a 125-99 final. Freeman scored a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, Bowden netted 16 points and Tim Ellis grabbed 13 points as they led the way for London. 3 other players achieved double digits in scoring: Shamari Spears, Rodney Buford and Eddie Smith. Most notable in the game was London's assist total compared to the Mill Rats. The Lightning put up 24 while Saint John could only manage 7! This, I believe, was key to the victory. Here's the boxscore. Also, here's the news snippet from the team website. That's all for now. Have a good day.
