Rethinking Previous NBA rants

Today's been a weird day. I spent the morning arguing against the NBA with my mother and my younger brother and I basically looked like an idiot in the process. I've been pretty much against the league for a while and it looks as though Chris Paul may still go to the Lakers after all. This is the NBA's way of saying, "F... you fans, we don't care about you!" The reason that the trade isn't done yet is because Lakers owner Jerry Buss is recuperating from blood clots that have hospitalized him. So yeah, the league is corrupt. However, on the Raptors side of things, there is some good news. First, the Raptors have signed Jamaal Magloire, a veteran center that will help in the post, with rebounding and with team leadership. Of course, the team has signed him too late, but late is better than never. Also too, the company that owns the Raptors (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Limited) has just sold 75% of its shares to Rogers and Bell (two Canadian telephone, TV and Internet provider companies). That 75% was previously owned by the Retired Teachers Pension group. This for me is great news as we will get better coverage here in Canada and it may just give Colangelo and the Raptors incentive to be better. So, I'm denouncing my previous posts about no longer being a fan of the NBA. It's wrong for me to turncoat on my favourite team just because I hate the league. I will, however, leave those posts up to serve as examples of corruption within the business. The one thing this WILL motivate me to do is this: NEVER again watch the All-Star Weekend or any games except for Raptors ones. In other words, expect both Lightning and Raptors recaps from me from now on. Catch you later.
