Knights Stomp over Majors, Jets-Leafs go to exciting Shootout
Wow, were last night's games great or what! First I listened to the Knights game as the team was in Missasauga to take on the St. Michael's Majors. This one seemed to be a close match as it was a match of the top two teams in the entire Canadian Hockey League (Knights are #1 and Majors are #2). Early on, the game seemed to live up to the billing as the Knights ended the first period up 2-1. From then on however, it was all Knights as they went on to win 6-3 to go 9-2 on the season. The other game I followed was an NHL one. The Toronto Maple Leafs were at home in the Air Canada Centre to take on the newest Canadian team, the Winnipeg Jets who had just beaten the Pittsburgh Penguins at home 2-1 for their first victory on the year. After the Knights game, I moseyed on over to the TV set and turned on the Leafs-Jets game. To my surprise, the Jets were ahead of the Leafs 3-1 after 2 periods! The Jets seemed as though they were going to win another one, but Toronto had other plans in the third period. They tied it up with Phil Kessel scoring once to go into overtime with a 3-3 score. Overtime solved nothing, but both teams had their chances with the Leafs doing most of the buzzing around the Winnipeg net. So, they went to a shootout where the Leafs won on a goal by Joffrey Lupal. So, that's that. Here is the recap for the Leafs-Jets game, and here's the recap for the Knights victory. Next up for the Knights is a home game at the John Labatt Centre on Friday night at 7:30 PM against the Belleville Bulls who now have former teammate Jake Worrad. See you then!
