I recently watched two National Basketball League of Canada games. The first one was between the London Lightning and the Moncton Miracles at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario and the other was between the Oshawa Power and the Summerside Storm in Oshawa, Ontario. In the first game, I watched as the Lightning destroyed the Miracles 122-100 Thursday night in a thrilling matchup. The hero of the day was Gabe Freeman who collected 34 points and an even more impressive 15 rebounds. DeAnthony Bowden scored 23 for the Lightning and Shawn Daniels, the big man in the middle scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Here's the boxscore. I also embedded a photo highlights with rap music kind of video about the game above the text. All in all, it was a great game and I especially enjoyed the Rogers TV commentators during the web stream comment on the backup centre Jamari Spears (wears #35 for the Lightning) about some of his moves, saying "Hey, that's a Shaq move!" Now, onto the next game...
The Summerside Storm came into Oshawa last night and put on quite a show, thrashing the Power to the tune of a 119-97 final score. Summerside's hero was Chris Cayole (wears #34 for the Storm) who put on a shooting display knocking down 6 of 8 3-point field goal attempts and scoring 26 points overall. As I watched the game, I remember thinking, "Wow, is Summerside ever great at hitting 3's?" In fact, Summerside overall would make 11-21 from the 3-point line. Here's another scary statistic: in every quarter except the 4th, the Storm would score at least 30 points or more throughout the game. In the 4th, Oshawa outscored Summerside 27-22. Oshawa's failure in this game was free-throw shooting. The team would only make a lousy 16 of their 44 attempts. Overall, the game was disappointing for me as I wanted the Power to win as they are also in Ontario just as the Lightning. Anyways, here's the boxscore.
With the recaps out of the way, I will sign off. Remember the Lightning don't play again until Dember 2nd. However, the London Knights do play tonight in Erie against the Otters. Game time is 7 PM. Until then, goodbye.
This will be a place for regular sports musings by the author, and a place for connecting as well.

Quick London Lightning Update
Well, the Lightning played two games recently: a home-and-home stand against the Oshawa Power and split them. The team lost in Oshawa in an overtime match and then promptly won a hard-fought game at home in the John Labatt Centre. As a result, the team is now 6-2 and are still 1st in the new NBL league. Their next game is at home vs the Moncton Miracles who are STILL winless at 0-6. As sorry as I am for Moncton, I believe London NEEDS this game to get back to consistent winning. However, if London's recent relaxing against weaker teams spells anything, it ain't gonna be easy. The start time on Thursday is 7 PM. That's all for now! Catch you later.

NBA News Getting Worse, news of a new Canadian pro ball league
Well, it doesn't look as though the NBA season can be saved. There is still a possibility of games being played, but recent developments are truly souring the process. The NBA players union has officially rejected the league's latest offer and they are starting to disband while filing an antitrust suit against the league. This means that there won't be any games until at least after December 15th. Here's the story. However, it's not all bad news. A new Canadian minor professional basketball league has been developed and the season is already underway. It's called the National Basketball League of Canada and there are 7 teams right now: the London Lightning out of London, Ontario(the team I support), the Halifax Rainmen (from Halifax, Nova Scotia), the Summerside Storm (from Summerside, Prince Edward Island), the Saint John Mill Rats (from Saint John, New Brunswick), the Oshawa Power (from Oshawa, Ontario), the Quebec Kebs (from Quebec City, Quebec) and the Moncton Miracles (from Moncton, Quebec). London is currently 4-1 on the year, and sit atop the standings so far. However, with the Lightning losing on Sunday to the Mill Rats (the game that my mother and I went to see live at the John Labatt Centre), the Lightning have made trades. They traded away one of their forwards, Tyrone Levett to the Rainmen for a former NBA player Rodney Buford. They also picked up a new 6 foot 6 inches big man called Shamari Spears. He is 250 pounds with a wingspan of 7 foot 1 inch when he jumps and stretches out for rebounds. This is great news because the Lightning are currently LAST in overall rebounds at 45 per game and also LAST in offensive rebounds at 9.2 per game. The Lightning also released a guard called Tyler Bullock who was brought in to replace Albert White who had trouble getting paperwork in and as a result could not make the team. The other ten players can be looked at on the team website. Here are the links:

London Lightning Roster
One note about the roster, Jamaal Davis is not actually with the team. He was replaced before the season started by Mike King, a forward whose hometown is Guelph, Ontario. He is a 6 foot 7 inch forward who is 235 pounds. The other 9 players that I didn't discuss are actually still with the franchise. The Lightning's next game is Thursday at home vs the Quebec Kebs at 7 PM. London's Schedule

Wow, a lot of blogging today! That's what it takes to make up for lost time. I'll see you all later.

Great Debate on Evolution; Necessity of Distinguishing between Fact and Interpretation
I'm just back here today to bring you a posting about evolution. First off, there's a pretty cool debate that recently took place about evolution. On the creationist side was Dr. Carl Wieland, director of the Australian branch of Creation Ministries International while the evolutionist was Dr. Paul Willis. Reading the comments, it seems as if Dr. Wieland won the debate fair and square. Anyways, I hope you enjoy watching it.
Also too, CMI has talked repeatedly on their Creation Magazine Live videos about distinguishing between fact and evolutionary interpretation. (Those videos feature two speakers from their Canadian branch, Richard Fangrad and Calvin Smith and give you a taste of what to expect in CMI's flagship publication Creation Magazine.) So I am going to do just that with an old school Kratts Creatures episode. (I already embedded one when I posted about the Tasmanian Devil awhile back.) This episode was entitled "Kickboxing Kangaroos" and in the 1st of the 3-part upload on Youtube, you can see a perfect example of what I'm talking about. From 4:11 to 7:56 of this first part we have fact followed by interpretation. The Kratt brothers first talk about the fact: a lot of unique Australian animals exist and are found only on Australia and the surrounding area such as the platypus, the koala and other creatures. This is then followed by Shannon Duth's character Allison Baldwin giving the evolutionary backdrop or interpretation of why these creatures are only found in Australia starting with some supposed Gondwanaland supercontinent which joined North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica. Then some millions of years later, Australia supposedly just broke off and separated from the rest of the world, leading to the "evolving" of many marsupials. The episode even went so far as to claim that they all evolved from a small marsupial similar to the pygmy possum. No evidence or anything was provided to back up the story other than the existence of the creatures that were mentioned beforehand. Imagine the laughter if a creation scientist had of attempted this for the Bible! I guess that since evolution is more naturalistic and doesn't necessarily need a creator, it must be OK. Anyways, here are the episode parts:
part 1
part 2
part 3
I'm not sure if the kangaroo story is still held today by evolutionists but if so it's a pretty good storyline if you ask me, but that's all it can be called. I just thought it was interesting. Catch you all later!
